Climate Pledge Friendly Certifications

We collaborate with a wide range of external certifications, including governmental agencies, non-profits, and independent laboratories, and have created our own certifications to help us distinguish products with sustainability features. We focus on certifications that are reputable, transparent, and have a focus on creating a positive sustainability impact. We routinely evaluate and reassess the certification landscape to ensure we include the best certifications to help customers shop for products with sustainability features. We exclude select products from Climate Pledge Friendly 1) based on other product sustainability criteria or 2) if the relevant sustainability claim within a category is too commonplace to help customers make a more sustainable choice.

AIAB
AIAB certifies organic products that are grown without the use of chemical pesticides and made by Italian companies.

AISE
AISE certifies washing, cleaning and household maintenance products that are evaluated against relevant environmental impacts of the entire lifecycle of a product, from the sourcing of raw materials to the recycling of packaging after use.

ASC
Aquaculture Stewardship Council certifies seafood products based on responsible farming practices aimed at protecting ocean environments, providing good working conditions, and maintaining high standards for fish welfare.

BIFMA Level certifies furniture products based on corporate, facility, and product manufacturing processes against environmental impact, health and wellness, and social responsibility criteria.

Bioland
Bioland certifies food producers and processers who meet strict requirements for cultivation, animal husbandry and products which go beyond the EU requirements for organic products.

Blue Angel
Blue Angel certifies consumer products that meet high environmental standards including protecting consumers' health. Blue Angel is the ecolabel of the federal government of Germany.

EPEAT certifies electronic products based on sustainability impacts across their lifecycle including energy efficiency, reduction of fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gases) and end of life management.

EU Ecolabel
EU Ecolabel certifies consumer products based on their reduced environmental impact across multiple stages of the product lifecycle from raw material extraction, to production, use and disposal.

EU Organic
EU Organic certifies organic food products based on having at least 95% organic ingredients. Products must meet standards on how they must be produced, processed, transported and stored.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified products are made with materials from well-managed forests, recycled materials and/or other controlled wood sources.

GOTS
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certifies clothing and home products based on standards for the processing of clothing and home materials made with organic fiber. GOTS certified products contain a minimum of 70% organic fibers.

GreenCircle Certified Environmental Facts label certifies consumer products based on a verified carbon footprint reduction through improvements in the raw materials used to make the product or in the manufacturing operation.

GreenCircle Recycled Content
GreenCircle Certified Recycled Content certified products are made of pre- or post-consumer material when it is manufactured. A product must contain 50% recycled content to qualify for Climate Pledge Friendly.

GreenCircle Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Optimized certifies the life cycle impacts of products were reduced as a result of implemented changes to the product or manufacturing operations based on environmental impacts of a product over its entire lifespan.

USDA Organic
USDA Organic certifies products that are grown and processed according to the USDA organic standards. Organic products do not contain GMOs, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. USDA Organic certified products contain a minimum of 95% organic ingredients.
